Then an assessment (or evaluation) in the STAGES system will give you some answers and you will receive a compact and specific overview of your topics as well as recommendations for your further developmental path. The STAGES assessment is the inventory of one's own ego development in the STAGES model on the basis of the analysis of 36 sentence starters, which are aimed at different contexts. Each sentence starter can be completed freely and the language used provides the relevant information to analyze such a survey.
I have completed the certification process as a STAGES Scorer in the summer of 2020 under the supervision of Terri O’Fallon, after having learned how to score the sentence completion tests in this system in a 14-month training course on 100 assessments. In addition, I have successfully completed the STAGES debriefing course and can also be booked as a debriefer. I am certified by STAGES International, Inc. to use the STAGES model of human development in my work with clients. I believe it is a comprehensive model that provides a detailed account of how people develop through their lives and through their engagement in the world.
The STAGES model of human development was created by Terri O’Fallon PhD and is based on over 10 years of rigorous research, which is ongoing. STAGES Assessment is the survey tool through which an individual’s current level of development can be determined. We use the STAGES Assessment in our work with clients because of its precision and because it allows us to effectively support clients in their development.
To attain my certification from STAGES International, I completed a rigorous course of training that included a period of supervision. I must also complete ongoing training requirements to maintain my certification. This rigorous process ensures that I have mastered the STAGES Model in my work with Clients. The STAGES model of adult development (Terri O’Fallon, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013) describes the different evolutionary perspectives that people can experience from birth to the latest research-validated categories. Based on the ego development model researched by Jane Loevinger and the extensions by Suzanne Cook-Greuther and Bill Torbert, the current skills and characteristics in the following four areas are evaluated using sentence completion tests (SCT):
It contains elements inspired by the AQAL model by Ken Wilber and the model of psychospiritual development by Sri Aurobindo (Wilber, 1995; Aurobindo, 1992). The STAGES model differs from the previous models in two ways. First, a small number of underlying factors (parameters or dimensions) are suggested that effect and describe the progression of the stages of development explained in the previous theories. Second, testers (scorers) use an alternative evaluation method based on these parameters.
Over the years, a number of empirical studies have helped bring STAGES to a new level of maturity and accuracy from its inception, which is a significant step in the long process of validating and consolidating an evaluation.
